There are other more effective and relevant options:
Make informed choices and do not support organisations that support animal testing. www.humanecharities.org.au has a list of charities which do not fund or engage in animal testing.
Purchase only cruelty free products. www.choosecrueltyfree.org.au has a list of companies and products that have obtained cruelty free certification.
Write to your MP, local papers and keep the issue alive. Many people incorrectly assume that animal testing especially on products such as make up, cleaning products, shampoos etc are no longer tested on animals but sadly this is not the case. Unless a product specifically states that it is cruelty free it is safest to assume that it is not and choose another product. Keep the pressure on those that can help to make changes and provide feedback to companies still testing on animals. Let them know as long as they continue to partake in that activity they will not receive your custom.
